Darian Mensah to Malachi Toney: Miami’s 2026 Passing Connection

Miami’s 2026 offense runs through one connection: quarterback Darian Mensah to receiver Malachi Toney. Against Pitt on October 24, Mensah completed 31 of 37 passes for 387 yards and four touchdowns, and three of those scores went to Toney, who caught a school-record 16 passes.

Their Best Games So Far

• At Stanford: Toney caught 12 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns, a school record for yards.
• Florida State: 11 catches for 154 yards and two scores in a double-overtime win.
• Pitt: 16 catches for 194 yards and three touchdowns in the 2001 throwbacks.

On and Off the Field

Mensah and Toney also appeared together in the adidas commercial for Miami’s 2001 throwback uniforms, alongside 2001 legends Ed Reed, Jeremy Shockey and Clinton Portis. Mensah said it was “really awesome to be around those guys, those legends.”

Motivation From 2025

After the Pitt game, Mensah said the team is “hungry” after losing the national title game the previous season. That edge has shown up in an 8-0 start and a No. 1 ranking.

A Pair of Jerseys

One idea for two fans in the same house: a Mensah jersey for one and a Toney No. 1 for the other. If you go with the Toney 2001 throwback, it is listed in green, orange and white. Orange matches the home set they wore against Pitt.
