Josh Allen’s Wyoming Finale: Three First-Quarter TDs in the Potato Bowl

Josh Allen’s last game in a Wyoming jersey was the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on December 22, 2017, at Albertsons Stadium in Boise. Wyoming beat Central Michigan 37-14, and Allen was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. He did most of his damage early: three touchdown passes in the first quarter, on 6-of-7 passing for 106 yards.

For fans who wear a Josh Allen Wyoming jersey, that game is a tidy way to remember his college career. It was short, sharp and over almost before it started.

The stat line

According to Wyoming Athletics, Allen finished 11 of 19 for 154 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. The numbers are modest by his later standards, but the early burst was enough to put the game away.

The defense stole the show

Wyoming forced eight turnovers in that game, a school record and a Famous Idaho Potato Bowl record. Head coach Craig Bohl said afterward, “We have been productive in takeaways this season and today was exceptional.” The win finished Wyoming’s season at 8-5.

That detail matters for Cowboys fans. Allen is the name everyone knows, but the 2017 team was a complete group, and the bowl win showed it.

What No. 17 means to Wyoming fans

Allen wore No. 17 at Wyoming, and the number is now tied to him in the same way it is in Buffalo. For Wyoming fans, a Josh Allen jersey is a reminder that he played his major-college football in Laramie, in front of their crowd, and finished his college career with a bowl win.

When you shop, check the listing title for the color and style. Josh Allen Wyoming jerseys typically come in brown and gold, the Cowboys’ colors, plus white versions for the road look. Picking a size and style

• Brown is the home color and the most recognizable Wyoming look.
• White is the road option and a lighter choice for warm-weather wear.
• Fit: football jerseys are cut long and loose to go over pads. If you plan to wear yours over a hoodie at War Memorial Stadium in November, your usual size is often enough.
