An Angel Reese jersey from LSU represents a short college chapter with a lot packed into it. Reese spent only two seasons in Baton Rouge, 2022-23 and 2023-24, yet she left with a national championship, a Final Four Most Outstanding Player award and an NCAA single-season record. If you are deciding between an Angel Reese LSU jersey and one from her pro career, it helps to know what those two seasons contained.
Before LSU: Baltimore and Maryland
Reese grew up in Randallstown, Maryland, near Baltimore, and played high school basketball at Saint Frances Academy. NBC reported that ESPN ranked her No. 2 overall in the Class of 2020. She started college at Maryland, where her freshman season was slowed by injury and her sophomore season was uneven.
After Maryland lost to Stanford in the Sweet 16, she entered the transfer portal. Explaining the move, she told reporters, “I wanted more for myself.” LSU, coached by Kim Mulkey, became her next stop.
Season one, 2022-23: the title year
Reese’s first LSU season is the one most fans think of when they buy an LSU Angel Reese jersey. NBC listed her season averages at 23.3 points and 15.6 rebounds per game, along with 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocks, on 52.7 percent shooting.
Two numbers from that season stand out:
- 34 double-doubles. WAFB reported that this set the NCAA record for a single season.
- 102-85 over Iowa. LSU beat Iowa for the program’s first national championship. Reese had 15 points and 10 rebounds in the final and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
She recorded a double-double in every game of that NCAA Tournament, which is a large part of why the 2023 run is so closely tied to her name.
Season two, 2023-24: one more run
Reese returned for a second LSU season and added to her numbers. WAFB reported 27 double-doubles in 2023-24, and that across her two LSU seasons she had 61 double-doubles and scored in double figures in all 67 games. She was named SEC Player of the Year and was an All-American.
The season ended in the Elite Eight on April 1, 2024, when Iowa beat LSU 94-87. In her final college game Reese had 17 points and 20 rebounds. Two days later she announced she would enter the WNBA Draft, and the Chicago Sky selected her No. 7 overall on April 15, 2024.
Which season does your jersey stand for?
Because she wore the same number in both LSU seasons, the jersey itself does not change between years. What changes is the memory you attach to it:
- The 2023 champion. For fans who watched the 102-85 final, the jersey stands for LSU’s first title and the record 34 double-doubles.
- The full LSU stretch. For fans who followed both seasons, it represents 61 double-doubles in 67 games and an SEC Player of the Year award.
- The Baltimore-to-Baton Rouge story. Some fans connect most with the transfer itself and the decision to want more.
White or yellow?
The Angel Reese Jersey #10 LSU Tigers college basketball design comes in more than one color, including the stitched white version shown above and a stitched yellow version. White looks closest to a home-court basketball jersey, while yellow stands out more in a crowd of purple.
Basketball jerseys are sleeveless and sit closer at the shoulders than football jerseys. If you plan to wear yours over a T-shirt, compare the size chart on the listing with a basketball jersey you already own.
