If you are looking at a CJ Stroud Ohio State jersey, here is the college career behind it.

From Rancho Cucamonga to Columbus

Stroud came to Ohio State from Rancho Cucamonga High School in California. He appeared in three games as a true freshman in 2020, then took over as the starter in 2021. Ohio State Athletics lists his record as a starter at 21-4.

2021: the breakout season

Stroud’s first year as a starter was a big one. He completed about 72 percent of his passes for 4,435 yards, 44 touchdowns and six interceptions. He was a Heisman finalist and finished fourth in the voting.

The Rose Bowl against Utah

The game that defines Stroud for many Ohio State fans came on January 1, 2022. Ohio State trailed Utah by 14 points and came back to win 48-45. Stroud threw for 573 yards and six touchdowns, and Ohio State Athletics credits him with 583 yards of total offense in the game. It remains his signature college performance.

2022: Heisman finalist again

Stroud followed up with 3,688 yards, 41 touchdowns and six interceptions, leading the nation in pass efficiency at 177.7. He was a Heisman finalist for the second straight year and finished third. Ohio State Athletics notes that he was the first Big Ten quarterback to throw 30 or more touchdown passes in back-to-back seasons, and he was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and Quarterback of the Year twice.

The Peach Bowl against Georgia

His last college game was the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Peach Bowl on December 31, 2022. Stroud threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns, but Georgia won 42-41.

On to the NFL

The Houston Texans took Stroud second overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. That gave fans in two cities a reason to follow him.

Choosing a CJ Stroud Ohio State jersey

Color

Scarlet is the home look most fans picture from the Rose Bowl season. White, like the jersey in the photo above, is the road version and pairs well with a gray or scarlet hat.

Patches and editions

Some listings add a bowl patch or a special edition detail. Read the listing title closely so you know exactly which version you are getting, since names like “Cotton Bowl Patch” describe the specific design.

Fit

Football jerseys are cut with room in the shoulders. Compare the listing’s size chart with a jersey you already own, especially if you plan to wear a hoodie underneath in late fall.
